New Advancements in Medical Technology

Medical technology has come a long way. Gone are the days of leeches and blades being the pinnacle of medical tech. Just in the past few decades, medical technological advances have included the electrocardiograph, electroencephalograph, cochlear implants, laser surgery, powered prosthetics, capsule endoscopy and the artificial liver.

Medical technology continues to advance and is providing us with things that, until recently, seemed like science fiction. Here are a few examples:

  • Bionic Legs: Berkeley Bionics’ eLEGS allow people who have been unable to walk or stand to stand and walk. It’s a compact powered exoskeleton derived from military technology that gives the disabled the mobility they’ve been without.
  • Spray-On Skin: In the past, severe burns have been treated via skin grafts. The spray-on skin is a mixture of skin stem cells from the patient that are sprayed over severe burns, sealing the wound and greatly accelerating the healing process. The spray-on skin also reduces the risk of scarring.
  • Skin Bio-Printer: Similar to the idea of the skin cell gun, skin cells are applied to wounds. In this case, a solution of skin cells is literally printed on the wound. This procedure also accelerates healing and seals wounds faster.
  • Electronic Bifocals: Instead of wearers having to tilt their heads to look through certain parts of their glasses, the lenses themselves would change at the push of a button on the frame.

Much of this tech isn’t readily available yet, but people working in hospitals or looking for work via organizations like Soliant healthcare staffing may encounter it soon.

Medical technology advances constantly. Even now, scientists are working on the next medical technology breakthrough that will make the bionic leg seem outdated.

If we look at online education versus on-campus college education. We will see that both educational avenues have their own advantages and disadvantages. Nonetheless, this is only one thing to take into consideration when deciding on an education, other factors must be reviewed, before a final decision can be made. Online distance learning has grown very popular over the past ten years and is expected to grow with one in ten college students choosing to get a degree program via the internet. So this fact  is encouraging and does speak to college students that online degrees are a way to go as is on-campus learning. However, getting an on-campus education does indeed have its rewards, as was stated here. The one who ends up making the decision as to which form of education to use is you. Why is that? Because it is you who determines your career goals and what your unique learning style is.
No two people learn the same. What is great about getting an online education is it is flexible and you can learn minus a campus. What is great about getting an on-campus education is getting to meet new people and being a part of a traditional student population. Access is what all potential students need to consider before choosing any form of further education. The Global digital divide

Digital divide refers to the difference in the availability of technologies for the development of a nation or individuals. It has recently developed into a major factor driving the growth of a particular nation. It is primarily considered as a divide which looks into the difference in the number of users using computers and having access to internet connections.

Digital divide can be subdivided into several categories to find out the areas where it is more prominent. One area which results into digital divide among nations is education.
